Course Details
The above overall pictorial plan relates to the Junior Event that will be introduced in 2008 and is only an overview representation.
The key features of the plan in summary/order are:
- Junior participants will be required to report to the Maureen Grierson Centre at 6.15am and to have their names checked off and allocated a participant number recorded on their top left arm and left thigh in bold black marker pen;
- Maureen Grierson Centre will be open from 6.30am (refer to aerial map above for location);
- All Juniors must place their bikes in the bike compound before the start of the event.
The bike compound will be open for this purpose between 6.30am and 7.25am.
Marshals will be available to advise juniors at this time.
- All juniors would be required to be on the beach by 7.30am at the area marked red and report to the Chief Marshall for each age group;
- Age groupings to be organised on the basis of 7-8 yrs, 9-10yrs, 11-12yrs, 13-14yrs and 15-16yrs;
- Maximum entry numbers overall are 500 participants for 2008;
- At 7.45am the 7-8 yr old group report to the swim zone Starter Marshall to commence the first stage of the event;
- The swim zone will be arranged to reflect distances (depending on conditions) as per the table (Event Info) for each age group. The swim zone will be located approximately 50m to the north of the Amphitheatre;
- Participators will exit the water and run directly up the sand pathway (as marked) to the bike compound and depart the compound ASAP along the approved route as indicated.
- Participators commence their run once they have returned to the bike compound from their ride. The route of the run will be along the Dual-Use Pathway up the ramp and along the eastern side of the amphitheatre through the main gate directly opposite the Scarboro Surf Life Saving Club and down the operational access ramp onto the beach at this point each age group will complete the run around the designated marker and finish at the amphitheatre.
